BSCIC through its European Partner delivers safe and secure services for different Directives
- Directive 2006/42/CE Machinery
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/CE regulates the safety of machinery in the European Union. BSCIC through its European Partner can provide certification services for all machinery and safety components included in Annex IV of Directive 2006/42/EC, which covers all machinery that requires the intervention of a third party accredited for certification. It applies to all types of machinery, including sets of machinery and “partly completed machinery”, as well as interchangeable equipment, safety components, lifting accessories, chains, ropes and belts, removable mechanical transmission devices
- Directive 2014/33/UE Lifts and Safety Components for Lifts
BSCIC through its European Partner covers both safety components and whole lifts and covers the manufacture and installation of the lifts. The directive therefore applies to manufacturer, authorized representative, importer, distributor, or economic operators as well as the installer who is placing the lift or safety component in the EU market and meets the requirements of Directive 2014/33/EU.
- Directive 2014/30/UE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
The EMC Directive defines the parameters for electromagnetic emissions of equipment, in order to ensure the proper functioning even in presence of electromagnetic interferences Directive 2014/30/EU.
The main objective of the EMC directive is to guarantee the free movement of apparatus and to create an acceptable electromagnetic environment in the Community territory. In order to achieve this objective, provisions have been put in place so that:
⚫ equipment (apparatus and fixed installations) needs to comply with the requirements of the EMC Directive when it is placed on the market and/or taken into service;
⚫ the application of good engineering practice is required for fixed installations, with the possibility for the competent authorities of Member States to impose measures if non-compliance is established.
- Directive 2014/53/UE Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
The RED Directive (which replaced the previous R&TTE Directive) applies to electrical/electronic products that intentionally emit and/or receive radio waves for radiocommunication and/or radiodetermination purposes. Directive 2014/53/EU provides a range of essential requirements in order to avoid mutual damaging interference between different devices and to ensure their efficient and safe functioning. The scope of the Directive applies to all radio equipment being placed on the market in the EU with the exception of:
⚫ Radio equipment used exclusively for activities concerning public security, defense, state security or for the economic well-being of the state
⚫ Amateur radio kits
⚫ Marine equipment
⚫ Airborne products, parts, and appliances (as regulated under Article 3 of Regulation EC 216/2008)
⚫ Custom-built kits used solely for research and development activities.
- Directive 2000/14/CE Noise
Directive 2000/14/EC covers 57 types of equipment, from brush cutters to hoists, from bandsaws to pressure cleaners, listed in Articles 12 and 13 of the Directive. Machinery and equipment referred to in Article 12 (including motor compressors, excavators, demolition hammers, forklifts, lawnmowers, etc.) must comply with certain noise emission limits and require the mandatory intervention of a notified body, as BSCIC through its European Partner.
As Notified Body, BSCIC through its European Partner conformity verification services in accordance with EU Directive 2000/14/EC include:
Analysis of the technical file provided by the manufacturer,
Inspection of the machine and measurement of noise emission levels.
Directive 2014/34/EU Apparatus and protection systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Atex)
All equipment installed and used in potentially explosive areas falls within the scope of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/UE. This Directive covers:
equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres;
safety, control and regulating devices intended for use outside potentially explosive atmospheres, but necessary or useful for the safe operation of equipment and protective systems with respect to explosion risks;
components intended to be incorporated into equipment and protective systems.
- Directive 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment (PED)
The PED Directive 2014/68/UE defines the safety requirements for the design, manufacture and installation of individual equipment and assemblies subjected to a maximum permissible pressure exceeding 0.5 bar. In order to be placed on the EU market, such equipment and assemblies (e.g. boilers, hydraulic valves, pressure vessels, pipes and accessories) must comply with the requirements of the Directive and be CE marked.
